Kick back & relax in this artful former convent on Portugal's southern coast
Just off the main strip of Olhão in Eastern Algarve, unmarked and bathed in brilliant white, lies Convento. The owners purchased the old convent house without ever having set foot inside due to the collapsed roof. Carefully restored by two architects, a teacher and agronomist, the dormitories are now light-filled bedrooms with high ceilings, the bathrooms decked with blush-veined Alentejo marble. And what used to be the fish salting vault is now the kitchen, where breakfasts made with local ingredients are served.
