It took courage for Jane and Mark Green to build a contemporary riverside home in Kingswear Dartmouth on the site of a loved but dated family house but it has proved an outstanding success."Mark and I are usually quite traditional when it comes to style" admits Jane as she gazes out of the floor-to-ceiling windows of her contemporary home to the river beyond. "But having come to the decision that we wanted to build our own property here it seemed silly somehow to go for a design that was a pastiche of an older style: we decided we would be brave instead!".It was brave indeed and on many levels. Previously Jane"s parents had owned a 1930"s house on the very same site for 35 years but when they passed awaythe couple were faced with a dilemma: to upgrade the tired existing property in some way - or take the massive step of demolishing it to make way for A contemporary 4-bedroom home with separate apartment.
