Rural Cape Winelands cottage in South Africa

The potential of the house from the 1800s was immediately apparent. The walls were half a metre thick, and ceilings contained heavy wooden beams. The living room had a deep slanting fireplace with seats inside it, one of those old Cape fireplaces known as a "binnebraai" where you could grill your meat while sitting by the fire to keep warm.
